    You can see some redness. I always have suffered some level of irritation with a close shave, but at least nothing like the early days

    Learning my beard pattern has helped reduce irritation the same ways Lynn and Al mentioned.

    Back on topic: Yes, it is interesting how the beard pattern is not usually as expected. I'm North/South along my sideburn, but that transitions to chin to corner of my jaw as I get closer to my mouth.
