    Default Finally my first shave.

Alright, I just got finished with my 30 minute first shave.

I started with ogallala bay rum soap and my henckels 401.

Ow. A hearty bit of pulling , probably due mostly to my crappy lather. HOWEVER, I got a BBS shave in a WTG and XTG pass of my cheeks with no nicks, and did chin, mustache and most of my neck with no nicks. Definitely not a BBS, but somewhat decent the nonetheless. Anyways, by this point, I was tired of the pull and irritation. I washed everything off, stropped the razor a little (I didn't before the shave, which is probably another reason for the pulling). after all that was done and everything put away, I decided my shave needed a little touch up. So I mixed a little ogallala with some Sandal wood shave cream and made some better-than-terrible-lather and used the KB extra this time.

Wow, no pull, closer easier shave. felt really good. So I touched up a little and put everything away. I decided a full face even if it was rough was plenty for me, but I think I may hit it again tonight when my skin gets some rest and see how close I can get.

I'd like to thank all the members here for their great advice and particularly to those who sent some stuff to help me on my way, I don't know if they would like to be named so I won't, but they know who they are :P and of course Holli for selling me some beautiful little razors and a brush

Haha, I just can't get over how much fun it is!

Congrats on your first shave JokiJo!
As you know, they will continue to get better as you learn and improve. The excitement and fun of straight shaving, doesnt ever seem to go away, fortunately.
Fun times and thank for sharing.

Well, I couldn't let it rest, so I went back and tried to get BBS.This time, I used way, less cream and used a very slightly damp brush, added a couple drips of water and kachow- creamy lather.

I took about 15 minutes shaving my chin, relathered half a billion times, and

Success! BBS, and less irritation then the first go. Same with my upper lip except on an XTG pass I sliced a nice little nick there. After some cold water an alum bar and a pat dry all was good, it's not even noticable.

So, my face is extremely irritated, but baby butt smooth and I had some serious fun. I figured out the secret to good lather and worked on my stropping, petted the razors and put em away, and tapped on some nice smelling (tabac) cologne just in time for the night life. Aside from the small nick and a little redness it looks great. SOOO MUCH FUN! I can't wait till next shave, I haven't even done my neck maybe I'll do that tonight. as close as my shave was I doubt I'll have anything to shave for the rest of the weekend :d

Still can't get over how much fun this is. It's just shaving but it's like..explainable-ly rewarding.

    Good advice!
