Cold Lather
The other day I used my Simpson's Best Badger brush with my redneck Scuttle. The lather was a little colder than my other ones so I thought it was all because of my silvertip was soaked in hot water for 10 minutes and the scuttle had nothing to do with it. The shave was horrible. Cut my self a couple of times. More than I usually do. Sucked. So I did an experiment. Today I used my silvertip in a regular mug and did everything the same as I always do. Turns out that the lather wasn't as warm as i thought as it would be. It was actually pretty cold. So i guess the scuttle was keeping my lather warm and maybe the brush too because I don't want another day like the other day. A redneck scuttle and a silvertip brush will get you warm nice lather.

I'm sorry...what do you mean? Did your scuttle work or not? Or did you not soak your brush?
I personally find that good lather works hot or cold, and in summer a cooler lather really feels much better. Especially with something like Connaught's Peppermint shave cream--nice and frosty!

Thanked: 15I think sometimes it's just your mindset. If warm is comfortable, it tends to be more calming and the process procedes smoothly. If the cool sensation was somewhat unsettling then it certainly could have effected how you approched the shaving experience. Do what is comfortable!

Thanked: 235I don't have running hot water here and I'm too lazy to boil the kettle each time I shave, so most of my shaves are with cold lather. But living in the tropics the cold water isn't all that cold.

Thanked: 235Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. I'm quite happy with my cold later. I keep my scuttle and warm later for a treat on the weekend. Anyway, the cold water here isn't really cold, its more like almost body temp, so the later doesn't end up cold, its body temp.
