Thanked: 7Four generations straight razor
I had a very satisfying day , i recently taught one of my sons to use a straight razor and today i taught him to sharpen his own razor using 4000/8000/ 12000 stones and finishing on the strops with diamond paste then on the leather strop and it was very satisfying to watch him shave with delight having sharpened and stropped the razor himself,he is now the 4th generation in my family using the straight i remember my grandfather and my own father using it myself and now my son his son is now sixteen wonder if we could get him going before the good lord calls me would be nice to see ..God bless all have a nice day... scotchie

Very nice! It is the warmest of feelings to share what we cherish. I do't recall my father using a straight razor so the tradition restarts with me.
My son started shaving last year at 13 yrs old. Once I saw he was shaving I broke out my father's super speed and offered it to my son. He embrassed it and always used it. A few weeks later I found some straight razors I purchased at auction 20 yrs prior and decided to take that up and teach my son. Thanks to SRP and the great members here I was able to learn the ropes. My son now shaves with a straight razor when ever he is with me. He'll be 15 next month. Last weekend he restored the edge on one of our finds and we both enjoyed the shave off his first complete honing.
Get your grandson to use the straight now that his father is using it. He will be pleased that you and his dad recognize him as a man.

That is really cool. Thanks for sharing that.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
