    Default Razor Vendors, Advice Needed

I have been fielding a growing number of questions from members wanting to try out wedges for the smoothness. Now for old fart honers like myself that have no problem honing an old wedge, lots of older wedges present problems for many. Also the possibility of degrading a wedge edge IMHO is generally more of a problem than a full hollow for less experienced sharpeners and shavers.
Can we get some vendors to suggest some current models available that are for lack of terms more accurately made than the older wedges? Just think how sad it would be for new commers to come to this sport not to enjoy a wedge cause they could not keep it sharp.

I can't think of any current wedges in production, or readily available NOS. Stiffer grinds, yes. Wedges tend to be custom, & they're all good. Be interested if there are any out there though.

I know that Wacker has a couple of 1/2 and 1/4 grinds, and he does offer ONE wedge, I think...

I noticed one on Shavingshop.com , but I think it was only available as part of a pair.

    Here they are:

    As part of a set:

    Art.Nr. 1049

    As a single razor:

    Damast Keilschliff

Maybe if you ask politely Herr Wacker may be inclined to sell you the wedge of the set as a single razor.

I don't read German, but it looks like the damascus is 495 euros? There seems to be two prices on the other page, but I can't tell.

Well to give this one more bump, Ben mentioned stiffer, JimR brought up 1/4 grinds, good ideas. Not all wedges are actually 100% wedge flat any way. Most are not from the ones I have seen. So maybe the better advice for people that want the best of both worlds would be to list the ones that are heaviest grind. I don't know, maybe if there was a list of heavy grinds, it might make a lot of people happy.

He lists the individual prices of each in the pair (145,00), so I don't think you have to ask THAT nicely!
