Thread: Stuck....

It's been a few months of use, abuse, and learning (we all know what bad stropping does to an edge) since my razor was honed. I now have a great TM strop and a Keen Kutter barber hone.... but in spite of careful honing and stropping, I just can't get the razor popping hairs like it used to. It's better than before I started.... but not much.

I feel like growing a beard. *grumble*


On the plus side... I think I found an Escher or similar in our knife drawer. More to follow.

Is it still shaving well? How regularly have you been using the stone and for how many laps?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, it can be restored to full sharpness fairly easily. If you've had it since march, I really wouldn't worry. Perhaps it just needs a more intensive session on the barbers hone.

I've used the fine side of the hone twice, for 20 laps. It shaves but nothing like comfortably. Maybe a few more laps, then?
