I shave my head with a straight razor every morning. It feels great.
When I did it with a Sensor Excel I did it only by touch without a
mirror, with the straight razor I use a mirror. I ended up with a few
ugly cuts the first few time but now I did a few weeks in a row
    without a scratch.

    Greatings Steve and YGingras,

Welcome members of the chrome dome club. I shave my nog with a str8 every morning, for two reasons: 1.) to aesthetically balance what is no longer on top with what remains on the sides; and 2.) to extend the sensorial pleasure of lathering and shaving with a str8.

You have to be VERY mindful shaving your nog, especially behind the ears. But actually, because the skin is quite taut on the scalp, I now find it easier to shave my head than parts of my face. I usually need to do 2 passes requiring about another 15-20 more delightful minutes of shaving.

    Hal

P.S. The first time you shave your nog, it's best to remove most of your hair with something like a #1 electric hair clipper, and only then use your razor to remove the remaining stubble.

I have several co-workers and friends who have followed the trend to shave their heads. However, since my hair is turning gray instead of loose, I'll keep it attached with a bit of length! Okay, a lot of length!

I've shaved mine for over a year now, use a headblade, but I do shave above the ears with a straight.

    Greetings Rob,

Welcome to the exclusive SRP nog shavers club! (sunglasses with a shaved head looks pretty cool, eh?) I'm curious about those headblades. I can get a pretty close shave going down and a bit across the grain on parts of my nog using a str8, but wouldn't think of trying anything in the opposite direction; I'd be sure to nick myself good. For a really smooth feeling nog, can you comfortably use those headblades against the grain?

With the Sensor I always went against the grain, mostly because its
the only way to get a decent shave with a Sensor. Skin irritation was
not as bad and going against the grain on the face but I had an
ingrown hair behind the head once in a while...

With the straight I do one pass with the grain, one pass across. I
never tried the headblade but its pretty much a Sensor with a funny
    handle.

I was expecting the skin on my head to be naturally stretched but I
notice I get better shaves by leaning the head forward when shaving
the back (my stretching hand being busy holding the mirror).

Hal, I only shave against the grain with the headblade. Unless I have two or three days of growth. The head blade takes a bit to get used to, take it slow and easy at first.

Go here and you'll find tons of info. http://www.headshaveproducts.com/forums/index.php?

    Rob and YGingras,

Thanks for the link Rob. Good shaving tip YGingras! I also find leaning my head forward helps when shaving the back of my neck.

    Cool

My wife hates it, but I shave my head twice a week. I have used the Progress DE a few times, and as long as I have a good lather it is fine. However I have about 18 Merkur Atra cartridges left that I bought in a kit with the HeadBlade, and then discovered that I don't like the HB at all (I seem to always slip with it and leave 2 parallel cuts in my scalp), so I bought an Atra handle to use up the cartridges Once these are gone I will go back to the DE. Since I haven't even started with the str8 yet, I am not sure if I will ever be ready to shave my scalp with it.

    Time will tell.
