I've checked them and they are in fine shape but something about them maybe the geometry or the scale shape thats just different. For instance I have a Case spike point and I finally noticed the spike has an ever so slight flair outwards to it almost imperceptable to the eye but when shaving it makes a huge difference that spike can snag your face very easily.
A spike can be carefully "rounded" at the point to not present an overly hazardous condition. I never ship out a spike that is not been viewed under magnification to present a hazard. This is an easy process, and though I can not PROVE it, was probably standard razor honing art in the golden age.

There was some talk here about roundening a spike at the side of the honing stone. This can chip the edge in a split second. Better metod is to take some 800-1000 sandpaper in hand, and bring it to the razor's spike...

Right, Nenad ..... I'd forgotten to mention, "Be ESPECIALLY careful doing this!"

The sandpaper thing might work ..... not too sure I'd want the flesh of my hand on the flip-side of the paper, though
