    Yes, I experienced the same thing and although the straight is "shave ready" it may not cut as smooth you like. I gave my new "shave ready" straights about 10 passes on my pasted strop (.50 chrmox - 10 passes) and that smoothed out the feel of the shave immediately and put a smile on my face.

    Again, the shave readies are sharp, but you may prefer them to be a bit "smoother" as I do, when you shave.

    Don't push blade down against your face. light touch should be good enough to cut hair. This will avoid razor burns.
    personally i think problem with sharpness of the blade.(but not sure). you need to rule out many other factors first and then say it is not sharp enough. angle of the blade is very very important, if you have shave ready blade but using wrong angle blade will have hard time to cut hairs.
