    Default Shaving

    Hi,

I have been shaving with a straight razor for a couple of weeks now, and I can shave perfectly except for chin area (a few cuts and then I stop and use my Gillette Fusion) and moustache area (a bit cautious to try here)... Any advice please.

    Thanks

Thank you, those videos help a lot. I will give my face a rest for a few days and try again.

    Default Shaving

    Gentlemen,

That video is quite good. Congratulations to Jockys for doing such a fine job. Also, don't forget to view Lynn's video. That is a classic, and excellent.

    Regards,

    Obie

+1 from me on the videos, they helped me a lot when I started
Also my top tip for a quicker learning curve would be to throw the Fusion away, when I started I made myself only use a straight period, and unless you are happy walking round looking the village idiot, you soon learn to shave at an acceptable if not perfect level.
    It worked for me

    +1 on those videos!

Also - on the trouble spots (chin and moustache - corners for me)

    - I keep the blade pretty flat
-I keep the strokes short and light (in a sort of gentle buffing motion)
-try not to overdo it (that's the hard bit for me- knowing when to stop!)

If I do this I generally come away with a pretty good shave.

And did I say +1 on the Jockeys videos??

    All the best,
    Michael.

ps Experimenting can be good too - maybe on the weekends
e.g. going XTG from ear to nose on moustache and comparing this to going the other direction (if that makes sense)
