Update on my face
I shaved Saturday with my second razor Lynn honed. OUCH! Just a couple of nicks, but a whole lot of burn! Stropped the Dovo he honed today and modified the pressure I put on the blade while it was on my face.
Well, I'm happy to report I had the best shave to date since I started using a straight. The sharp razors and adequate beard preparation, coupled with little or no pressure at all, and I got a great shave. I guess you do learn something everyday.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's shave!

Thanked: 0Back to conservation oils
Hello wet shave friends,
Germany has produced Ballistol oil for 70 years or so.
Incredulous when reading the recommendation to use it on metal, wood and leather, I tried it on one pair of shoes. Wow! They became like moccasins, caressing my feet. Meanwhile have begun treating my other shoes pair by pair.
Not to mention my razors. :-)
Ballistol has a particular smell. Some like it. Others do not.
Here is a link to the Ballistol manufacturer:

Excellent product. For me, the 0.5 litre cannister is fine.
Greetings,
lux

Thanked: 15Good first shave.
Thanks to Lynn, I had a good shave from my first SRP honed razor. I've been using a disposable straight with good results, but now wanted to graduate to the real thing.
Thanks again Lynn, and all the members here for the very helpful advice.
