Default Minor cuts with weak hand

On my fourth day now, and decided to venture south of my cheeks -- the dreaded neck.

I switch hands, and my girlfriend noticed that I had nicked up my neck on the left side (weak hand), while my shave looked okay on the right. No pain, and didn't realize that I did it when I was doing it, well maybe a bit of pulling but no pain.

Should I keep at it, or try shaving with my strong hand only?

Whatever, I'm gonna wait for my neck to heal up before I head back down there again.

It's really personal preference, but using both hands would give you a little bit more flexibility if you can't comfortably angle the blade with the other hand.

For me, it was a natural thing to switch hands. I'm a bit ambidextrous, so I haven't noticed any difference switching between hands.

I shave only with my right hand and it works just fine for me. I can't use my left at all other than to use it to lift and carry things two-handed...lol.

Try doing your work using one hand and see how you like it. The first time you do, though, you might get a little frustrated since you'll notice that your forearm is in your field of vision a little, but with a bit of contortion, you'll get it figured out.

    give it a try...

I am a 1.5 handed shaver. Above the chinline I go 50/50, but below I am dominant hand only. It's really just about different grip down there. I could reasonably shave right handed only if my hand and arm wouldn't get in the way of my line of sight. I do my neck in 2 big X patterns. Ears to apple and then apple to ears. What I do may not work for you, but as you can see everyone does it a bit different.

I am two handed shaver. I have wide shoulders and it's very uncomfortable to try and reach the left side with my right hand. Then on my XTG pass I use my left to shave the right side of my neck. Just my experience to date.

If you keep using both hands shaving with both hands will eventually be second nature to you. These type of things with straights, such as two hands, or even stropping, take several months to acquire a memory for.

I'm a mostly ambidextrous two hander. However I am going to have to figure out how to do it one handed when I get try to a Japanese straight.
