    Talking 1st str8 shave!!

Hey everybody. Just had my first str8 razor shaving experience. The razor came in today from Bill Ellis. I only did my sideburns. No nicks, no blood. Stropped on a leather belt since I havent got around to buying a strop yet. Used sandalwood soap from classicshaving.com and a couple of hot washcloths. Dominica Bay Rum aftershave. Nice. Just wanted to share!

Yes! Congrats to you (p.s. that Sandalwood soap is one of my favorite soaps)

Glad to hear it SouthernGentleDude. If I remember correctly, that was the extent of my first str8 shave many moons ago. You seem to be taking it slow and carefully like I did. I gradually ventured further and further into my shave with the str8 and had less and less to finish with one of the unmentionable razors. Before I knew it, it was all str8. Then deployments when I was AF, back to the unmentionable, and for some reason, never got back to it until recently. Boy am I glad to be back too. Never knew how much I missed the ritual. I think the time off did me some good. Now I have the time to keep trying to perfect the shave. That and spend way too much damn money on this hobby. Fun though! ...............Jeff

    Thumbs up Congrats!

Awesome! Keep at it and you'll be getting killer shaves over the whole face. It feels as good on the outside as it does on the inside. I love the way my face feels after a straight shave. Is that weird?

I'm not far ahead of you, and I understand the excitement. Congratulations! Now, I just have two words for you regarding the strop...Tony Miller!

I'd add four more: Sharp razor, no pressure.

Welcome to the club. I hope you find it as intoxicating as I have.
