Thanked: 21Remembering why I started
I took trip to a conference last week. I was in a rush packing and didn't get my razor. When I got into town, I realized that I hadn't gotten it. I went to a drugstore and bought a Mach III. I figured that I could deal with using it 3 or 4 times.
Two shaves into it, I found myself searching the internet for a local place to buy a new straight or a barber that would give me a shave. I had absolutely forgotten how bad shaving was before I made the switch. In the end I went without shaving the last few days I was there. I just couldn't take anymore. I got home last night and gave myself a great shave this morning.
I'll be putting together a travel kit in the coming weeks that can just live in my luggage. Never going to make that mistake again.

If you are going to leave the kit alone for stretches at a time, make sure to pack a small bottle of baby oil (only cold pressed babies will do) to make sure your blade doesn't rust unwantedly.

It is amazing that such a thing as shaving can be such a pleasure. Sometimes during the day I"ll notice how great my face feels- not from touching my face, just from the way it feels. That never happens with Mach XVIII's or whatever number they are up to now.
