Default Dubl Duck Razors - What's the Attraction?

I see a lot of people praising the Dubl Duck straights, but I've yet to figure out why they're so sought-after. Most of the ones I see on Ebay are dinged up and yet they're fetching a good price from buyers.

Is it simply becaue they're so unlike other razors, what with the cute little ducks on the handle and shank? I can't imagine one could tell the difference between an unmarked Dubl Duck blade and an unmarked brand of another sort. Or could one?

    Default Awesome Shaver

I can tell you I really like mine. It seems to get a little keener a little easier and therefore gives a really great shave. If this is how it has always been, then they may have been heavily used making them highly sought after by collectors as well as barbers.

The Dubl Duck was my first and only for 30 years. Did not use it all that time but when I bought it the man at the barber supply said they were the best. I just now honed it on a Swaty and it is sooooo smoooth.

I can tell you that I have about 6 DDs and they are all just about the most consistantly overall great shavers that I have used. I have about 30 razors in my rotation and the DDs are my favorites. They give close and comfortable shaves and hone very easily with the exception of the Wonderedge which takes a little more time.

    Cool Junk!

DD's are garbage. Stay away from them. Stay especially far away if you see me bidding on one on eBay. I really have your best interests in mind by expanding my duck collection. In a perfect world, nobody would be buying these things, but, alas, I must do what I can to protect the shaving community.... ;-)

Oh man I'm a little fish in that pond. I only have 4, well actually 3 and another one on the way. One is in good shape the others are pretty rough. Steel is mostly there but I need to refinish the blades and replace scales. That old celluloid is a PITA. I like what Superfly did using plexiglass. Yeah it's not a collector's item any more, but so what. A great shaver is meant to be shaved with I think. ..............Jeff

I have saved many bidders from making this dangerous plunge. Sure, I ended up with 1 Lifetime, 2 Wonderedge's, and a Satinedge, but I did something for mankind. If you see any large DD's (7/8 or bigger), please stay far away from them and let me know by PM. Thanks, and be careful out there.
