Something I'd like to point out. Have someone hold a ball by your face. Then have them drop it without warning. As soon as they drop it step back. I think you'll find that your backward flinch is generally faster than the ball falls. Physics 101 tells us that for all practical purposes it doesn't matter what it is everything falls at the same rate. (Someone else is dropping it so it is your reflex, not a planned action, air resistance at this speed at these scales is insignificant and there for can be ignored)
