He has some fundamental isses though. Current DE blades only last 2 or 3 shaves at best not 10 or more. Also all modern blades come with a teflon or platinum coating which is why the blades don't last. The coating wears off and you have a poorly manufactured edge left behind. An oil coating won't adhere to the coatings. He would have to use highly finished stainless blades without coatings and use his treatment on them. I don't see any practical application in this day and age. Maybe he's thinking back in the 1970s when Wilkenson came out with stainless DE blades that were highly finished and had no coatings. Those lasted at least 10 shaves.

Yea, I just thought the article is interesting because of the info on what makes a blade get dull.

there is so much useless info out there.. i was at work and someone had brough in the old november issue of maxim and it was talking about shaving according to these guys "cutting teeny hairs does not dull the razor, oxidation does so make sure you wipe your disposable dry and clean and you should eb able to get atleast 15 shaves out of it"
i have never laughed so hard in my life at that craziness

15 shaves seems a lot. I used disposable straight blades and I am meticulous about cleaning them after each shave as I am with my fixed straight razors.

The disposable straight blades are good for about 5 shaves. If I back off the BBS effort, then 7 shaves, but I never back off the BBS effort, so after shave #5, they get disposed.
