Thanked: 190When working small touch ups, I will just use water. This procedure is usually used to get a great BBS on the hairs on my neck next to the adams apple. One day I finally figured out that this area needs their special approach. Occasionally, some other small spots get the same work.

Absolutely! The water only pass is the key to a close shave and purely perfect accurate shaving lines.

I only use warm water when I touch up spots. Without the lather I can see exactly where the last few whiskers are and I can get a really good stretch going, too.

Thanked: 1In the past I used to get small nicks if I don't get enough lubricity on my face. For that reason I always use shaving foam. That way I always see what I am doing and always get a nice glide down my face. Of course, YMMV.

Those of you that use water for touch up might want to try witch hazel instead.

What a revelation! I've read this thread in the past but decided it was too scary for me to try. Worked up some muster and tried it today, though...
VERY, VERY close shave and shaving without lather was more comfortable than I ever thought. All the lubrication was still there and the absence of lather meant I didn't have any soap cushion as the middle man between my blade and whiskers.
This may very well become part of every shave
