Thanked: 9Just ordered Shavette. Can I use the blade/holder it comes with to shave my face?
I just ordered a Shavette for my first straight razor. Can I use the blade and holder that it comes with to shave? I noticed on classicshaving.com that there are 3 different carrier and blade combos for different purposes but I am wondering if for the time being I can safely use the stock one to shave my face. Thanks!

Thanked: 154Hi BGAndrea,
Yes it'll work fine. The red insert supplied with the Dovo Shavette is for use with disposable double-edge blades. That's what many barbers use to trim sideburns and give full shaves with.
Cheers,
Jeff

Sure can! I use the red one as well, easiest way I find to break the blades in half for it is to just leave them in the wrapper and simply bend it in half with no worries of cutting yourself. I have the green holder as well but have never used it.. Best of luck to you and remember low angle and no pressure they are very sharp!

Just a thought for you, try different angles if the conventional 30 degrees doesn't work out for you, I even found myself keeping the spine of the Shavette against my skin for the against the grain passes on my neck. Those blades really are a nice sharp blade, and 2-3 shave old blade for me is comparable to a straights sharpness and comfort.
Best of Luck,
