Thanked: 198is my mindset correct
ok, i went about my routine, soaked my razor in hot water, stroping my razor before i got into the shower, once the shower is over, i used an otc preshave oil(brand called one planet), then commenced to lather up. something i noticed is that as i was shaving, my razor felt as if it wasnt doing anything on my face, as if i was running a dull butter knife accross it. so i am thinking that if the razor is sharp, and the angle is correct that is exactly what it should feel like, all the while, the razor is doing its job. am i correct

Ok...I'll take a couple stabs here. First, it's surely a misprint, but I never soak the razor in water...you're asking for future rust problems by soaking it. Secondly, you never mentioned if the razor has been honed by a pro. If it hasn't, you may very well be shaving with a butterknife

You also failed to mention if you got a good shave ..... That might be the answer to your question one way or the other.

Thanked: 198well red, that was a misprint, i meant to say i soaked my brush, now if it were a disposable, that actually might help it shave better. the razor was honed by avatar, and he did a fine job on it. and jimmy, i got a great shave on the face, my bean, well i got a good shave there, but i have learned that my scalp hair is a heck of a lot tougher than my facial hair.

The shave you get should tell you if you're doing things right . If you got a close , irritation-free shave , I think you're doing it right .

I have had to shave the back, and a couple of times the side, of a customer's head when they were getting a tattoo on those areas. It really is way tougher and denser than facial whiskers. Used a disposable safety razor and I couldn't imagine shaving my own with a straight.
