Oh no, RAD already? I'm too broke for that...

    Well, it's sent. Fingers crossed.

bknesal - I was thinking that over. I may invest in one once I have a bit more money, and have my stropping down a little better...

Barber hones - they're pretty common, so they're pretty cheap.

If you miss one 'bargain' on a barber hone, another will be along shortly.
(And then you can stop spending money on shaving stuff... really!!)

Have a look at some of the threads on barber hones first though.

Between the strop and the barber hone you'll have all you need to maintain your razor - honing? you can get it honed if you seriously muck up the edge.

    All the best,
    Michael

I actually did have a bit of a look around for a barber hone. Last I looked, there wasn't one in the classifieds in my price range, and most of the stuff on ebay was in pretty rough shape.

Is there anywhere dedicated to selling such hones? The thing is that although it maybe "common" in the SR world, the SR world is a bit uncommon.

Glen has a few barber hones listed on his site for sale. You will find they come lapped and ready to go , you will also find he rates them for softness and on top of it all , they are reasonably priced. It doesn't hurt that he is an overall reliable guy and helpful. gemstarcustoms.com GL!!!

I am watching a few on ebay. Back in the day I took some of those in rough shape and "restored" them. I'll let you know within 2 days if I have another one on the way. Unfortunately I just sold off the last one I still had last month (besides my own Swaty lol). Alternatively if you have 2 hours to spare, get a flat surface (marble or granite tile) and some wet dry sandpaper, and you can restore one yourself!

khaos - I'm hoping I can manage not to screw up my blade again, but if I do that maybe the cheapest route. *sigh* Being broke sure does make you resourceful, but it's not the most convenient thing in the world.

Thanks Oni! Dude at the post office gave me the weirdest look when I told him what was in the package. Pretty sure the only reason he didn't call security is because I'm not exactly the most threatening-looking person in the world.
