1st shave with a spike and it went....
...slowwwweeellllyy and carefully
Honed my St & Co. up to shave ready today and went for it tonight. All I could do was watch that corner! I'm sure my ears lifted up a good half inch as the tip passed them.. All in all I got a nice close shave but it still needs a bit more work to get it up to anywhere near my TI.
I had to try my latest acquisition as I'd been to see my folks and got hold of my dad's India oilstone. I also tried one of his other stones but it turned out to be another CF but narrower than the one I already have. There's still some work to do on the blade and I have just borrowed my mate's dremmel, polishing discs and some celium oxide as I plan to get a nice shine on the blade.

Actually it looks like a modified notchpoint or a combination notch and more square point than actual spike. Usually a true spike has an exaggerated point at the end. Yours isn't far from it but the slight difference makes a world of difference when you shave. However your technique will enable you to shave with any point.

Just shows I know naff all lol - here's me thinking a square point was a spike. So a spike is more of a Spanish/French point then?
It's a square point with a barbers notch then
