    Default First full shave..

Decided as my other half was away at her folks for a week I'd chop my goatee off (going to grow it back for when she comes home)

Now up to date I've not had any experience in shaving the 'tache and chin area so was a bit hesitant in case I took half my lip off etc.

Did my usual shave routine, hot shower/soak followed by lathering up with some Edwin Jagger sandalwood soap with my ancient boar brush. Decided to use my TI as it's my sharpest razor.

Found my growth came off with ease but still took it carefully. had a couple of spots of blood from the tache area and one from my chin (which wasn't quite perfect shavewise but you can't tell). Hot water rinse followed by ice cold water rinse. Felt a bit sore so put plenty of Nivea post shave moisturiser for sensitive skin on and when this had gone in I followed it up by a liberal splash of Boots Bay Rum which was a bit stingy at first but this soon passed.

Couple of hours later and I'm sipping a nice glass of Jura with a lovely smooth face - all soreness gone. After about 15 years of goatee wearing it certainly feels different though be glad when it grows back.

    Default First Full Shave

    Hello, Yorki:

The great thing about wet shaving with a straight razor is the experimentation and improvisation stage. You gave yourself a good shave on the chin. That's a tough area to shave.

If you decide to go back to the goatee, at least you know you've experienced the naked chin. Good show.

    Regards,

    Obie
