Thanked: 0first time
So I had my first go with a straight. I bought it here from larry ando, took about 8 days to get here to thailand. Goodness this dang thing was extremely sharp. Anyways, it was a little awkward, you guys in your videos make it look easy. I shaved each side of my sideburn area and my cheek with both hands, all in all it was about on par with a cartridge. I nicked myself a few times, but nothing severe. Got razor burn on my right side where i did a few extra passes with no cream. I think im gonna like this.

Way to go! Just keep phasing it in slowly and you will be giving yourself full shaves in no time. Stay encouraged!
What type of razor did you select? What are you doing for pre shave? Soap/Cream, etc...? Give us a post on the Shave Of The Day thread so we can see what you are working with.Last edited by blockhead; 02-02-2010 at 10:12 AM.

Welcome to the right way to shave. Sounds like you are off to the correct start, and seem enthused and not disappointed. Take your time. It's not a race. As you get more comfortable with the razor in your hand and against your face you can begin to add other areas and techniques (XG and ATG).

Thanked: 190PC Welcome to Staight Shaving. Your are off to a better start than when I started. Keep building upon your success and read up on the Wiki.
I went from a M3 to straight shaving and never looked back. SRP will help you along.
