Distractions
Got moving a bit earlier this morning, and figured I'd get in a good shave. Unfortunately, part of the way through my first pass, my oldest comes in with his laptop and some Java problems. Then when I go back (having had to refresh the lather of course), I'm now running low on time and end up with an adequate, but not ideal, shave. Geez.
So, it made me wonder, what sort of oddball distractions do other people have when trying to shave (or does everyone have to run programming classes mid-shave?)

I live alone, so distractions don't exist for me. No kids (95% of the time), no pets. I crank up a cd, whip up the lather, do my laps on the strop and enjoy my shaves. I guess the only time I do have a distraction is when I sleep in a bit and am in a hurry, but on those days, I use a DE.

Thanked: 15Distractions are part of life for me. I usually can get a complete shave without interruptions as I try to pick a good time to do it. Sometimes I start with my str8 and finish up with a DE if I have to. Oh well, there's always tommorrow's shave

Thanked: 1I do my shaving at night after the kids go to sleep. I'm in a position where I don't have to shave if I don't want to other than when I have Guard drill. I do it because I enjoy it with a str8. If I have to shave everyday (like when I have Guard drill) then I just just a cartridge since it's easier and quicker or I'll use a str8 one day and then the cartridge the next then back to the str8. I am finding that if I use a str8 everyday I get razor burn BIG TIME on the second day. Right now my face needs that time to recover.

I challenged a guy at work to a beard-off, so I won't have to worry about any shaving distractions for a while.

I lay it down this way. I get my 25 minutes in the bathroom with no distraction and no whining. That's it - Period. That's my time and I deserve it.
That being said, I have a bunch of kids and a wife and all that, so the aforementioned scenario is more of a pipe dream than a daily occurence.

Eeek!
I don't know that my distraction is that oddball. But there was a short period, before I replaced it, that the bathroom lock was a bit on the non-functional side. And, as we all know, young children have very little concept of "privacy" when something seems oh-so-important to them.
So, there I am, standing over the sink, razor to my cheek, when the door bursts open, and in comes the aforementioned eight year old, who shouts at me that bagels are here! I nearly jumped out of my skin, and got a nice bleeder for my troubles. He, of course, got instruction about barging in without knocking and shouting.
It took me a further few minutes of styptic pencil-ing to close the wound.
