    Default Mini Razor

I recently acquired a small Tiger straight razor. It is the smaller razor in the picture. The 9/16 Tiger blade is not that unusual. But, the 2-1/4 inch length of the cutting edge is unusually small. The size of the razor can best be judged by comparison to the other more common sized razor.

I just finished a shave with this little guy, and am interested in comparing notes with others.

My face tends to the angular, and the size of the blade, especially the width made under the chin much easier.

I use slices and scything motions while shaving quite a lot. The other big difference I noticed, due to the short width, is that I used these cutting motions even more because it was so much easier to slice without worrying about what damage the other end of the blade was doing.

    So, win-win so far.

The one big disadvantage of this razor showed up towards the end of the shave. My hands started tiring noticeably. Probably, I was bringing a big scale grip to a small scale. Probably, I can adjust my grip, relaxing more, and this will improve. We'll see.

So, anyone else have experience with these little tykes?

I have a Torrey "Our 136" that also has a 2 1/4" blade on it. I have shaved with it a few times and it worked out great for me. I have a goatee, so I can't say how it would work around the chin and upper lip. I would imagine that it would make that job easier due to it's smaller size. Good luck with it.

Well, one of my disposables is 2.5 inches long a 1/2 inch. I like its maneuverability and it gives a good shave when its sharp. Since it is lighter than my fixed straights, I have to guide it along during the shave, but it never made my hand feel tired.

    Interesting razor, thanks for sharing!
