Default A silly question for sure, but....

Have pity, I'm an ol' guy who is just curious. This question is for the new guys in the military who wear those new Kevlar(I think) helmets.

I wore a steel pot with a helmet liner. I removed the helmet liner and used the steel pot to shave with (among many other useful things). So, how does the new helmet work?

I warned you it was a silly question......

Well now we have little pads that are velcro'd in. I suppose we could remove them and use it for a basin, but i don't know anyone that does.

    Default UK helmets

Our kevlar helmets are simply a kevlar shell with a firm, yet deformable liner to cushion against impacts, and some padding to provide a comfortable fit. There is also an adjustable webbing/tie arrangement at the top to maintain a gap and allow air circulation.

They don't really come apart very easily and are not much good for anything else, although I have used my mate's helmet to give a wild donkey a drink of water when on tour. You wouldn't want to do it with your own cos that leather padding on the inside is horrible when its wet.

Definitely not a contender for heating up shaving water. Plus the Sgt Major would seriously kick your ass if he saw you trying it!!!
