Strange Realization
So, I have been using my Str8 for about 2 weeks, not every day becouse somedays I just do not have the time to use a Str8 before work. On those days I use my M3....that is until Monday. I ran out of cartages for the M3 and instead of picking up more M3's I decided to try the cheap single blade Bic. WOW, for a disposable razor...fantastic shave. I am not sure if it is becouse it is a single blade and my face is getting real use to that type of shave or that the Bic blades are truely sharper than an M3.
Either way, I am a happy camper...good shaves when not using a str8 and they are cheap.

I'll bet its because you are learning how to shave properly and are now applying that proper technique when using a disposable. You can get away with a lot of crappy technique when using a 3 or 5 blade disposable, but I imagine a single blade disposable is going to require reasonable technique to get reasonable results.

Thanked: 190Interesting. I will say that when I acheived BBS shaves, my shaving standard rose so high that the M3 became suitable only for very minor, touch up work. The M3 can not match the performance of any of my straight razors.
Maybe Bic upped their game lately or your shraight shaving experience helped you out with the BIC.
BBS - when you arrive, there will be no looking back.

Oh am sure that my shaves have gotten better becouse of the str8. But it was just a pleasent surprise....I shaved with a new M3 no more than 4 days ago, and it was good. But the Bic litterly just glided along my face wiping the wiskers away. Now it was not as close as I get with a Str8, but still a big surprise.

I think its the single blade. I don't think they are sharper at all. Perhaps a little smoother.

I shaved with the Gillette 'Good News' twin blade for decades. They were alright. I have shaved with a Bic but didn't like them as much. I've never shaved with one of those cartridge multi bladed things. I'm too cheap. OTOH, I've got a few bucks tied up in straight razors.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
