    Default Damn Fine Shave

    Friends,

This morning I shaved with a Wade and Butcher Spike Point that I restored while at Lynn's house. Did 60 laps on my Latigo strop. Showered and used a wash cloth soaked in hot water to soften my beard. Cream was Proraso in my G5 Scuttle.

I made WTG, XTG and ATG passes with a light clean-up with an EJ DE89L and Derby blade. Finished with Alum Block, Cold Water, Dominica Bay Rum, and finally Barclay & Crocker Bay Rum VitE balm.

The result was the best shave I have ever had in my life. No weepers, no burning, no stinging upon applying the Alum. And, just the smoothest shave ever.

After three months, I think my techniques combined with my skin breaking in are all coming together nicely.

I wish I had a son to pass this down to.

    David

Congrats! Its really great when you get those sweet shaves..!

Sounds like it was a good one..! I love that feeling on your face, when all the elements come together, and you run your finger over your face afterwards and theres not a whisker to be found and your skin feels like velvet. Brilliant...!

    Heres to many more!

Thanks Stubear. Yeah, that's exactly it! Usually there is at least one whisker that kind of stings a little as a left over from an agressive pass or a bad angle. This time - nothin! Perfect! This is my new benchmark.

And you know, nobody does this all by themselves - you need a community of people willing to share like SRP to get to this point.

Nice work. It is rewarding on many levels to take something like an old razor and bring it all the way back to optimal functioning. Those W&Bs will sneak up on you. I didn't realize what a W&B fan I had become until I noticed that 4 of the top 6 in my current rotation are W&Bs.
