damn Fine Shave Follow-up
Group,
I repeated to the last detail my process and shave from yesterday morning. The result was just as close, still no weepers, nicks or razor burn. But I was a little red and a little more tender and stinging today than yesterday. The difference is I was out of town on Saturday and Sunday and DE shaved those two days.
So I may have reached the conclusion that for my skin, or at least this stage of the breaking in process, I may not be able to str8 shave every day. Probably every other day with a DE in between. Unfortunatley, I cannot go to work without a shave, or I would skip a day altogether.
But I have to say that I see more Wade & Butcher's in my near future, and I know right where there is a stash of 4 ripe for the picking.
My RAD knows no bounds!

Thanked: 12I get a lot less irritation if I shave every other day. Granted a lot of mine is probably still newbness, but it does make a difference. I've been shaving roughly 5 times a week. Trying to balance the want to shave(amazing, that) with letting my neck heal.
I don't have to shave at all for work though, so it's no big deal if I miss a day.

I generally shave every other day (kind-of). Even if I wanted too I can only do 2 days in a row otherwise I'll be one hurtin' puppy. Not too worried about it though. I'm also one of those guys who doesn't need to be clean shaven (at all) for work. All in all I think my favorite shaves are the ones after 2 days of not shaving, thats just me though.

Thanked: 190Take it at your own pace. There is so much technique that goes into straight shaving and it is different for everyone.
A good BBS shave lasts a long time for me and there is hardly anything on the second day to shave and by the end of the day a good shadow exist. So the face usually gets a two pass shave every workday and is basically a touch up. Its mostly XTG and ATG since the length of the hairs are very small. Sometimes, I just don't shave, but it depends on the demands of the day.
Good Luck,
Pabster

It took a good long while (at least a year) before I could go for a perfectly BBS, ATG shave every day without eventually suffering for it. This was particularly true for my upper lip and chin.
I should also point out that I don't need to shave so aggressively every day, by any means. I just enjoy the challenge.

Just take your time and your skin will adjust to the razor and you'll develop your prep and technique to what suits your face.
When I started I couldnt use a straight every day, for much the same reasons you mention. But as I learnt more and developed my technique I found I could use them every day. And I'm still learning new tricks as I read here on SRP. Some I find work for me and others dont, but its really fun trying them all out..!
As I say, take your time and enjoy the journey and you'll get there..!
You know where theres a stash of 4 W&B's and you havent got them yet...!?!
I wish there was a smiley for enabling people...!

Thanked: 12Feels like a drug deal doesn't ??????? hahahahahaha
I have managed 2 shaves in as many days and feel great but I realize it feels easier to do every other day. I am using my Dovo 55 honed by Lynn.
Now I know what sharp is and here is the funny/odd thing-
I have not stropped it in 6 shaves- wonder when I will really need to do so?
