Thanked: 1072First SR shave in 3 weeks
After 3 weeks I finally got to shave with a straight tonight. I was so excited I was nearly running down the hall to the bathroom. My face hasnt felt this good in 3 weeks either.
To say the last few weeks have been chaotic would be an understatement, My 2 year old son (he turns 3 on sunday) was diagnosed with Lukeamia 4 days before my wife gave birth to our second son. The whole family (now 6 of us) have been living in one room at a house set up for families with sick kids that we are sharing with about a dozen other families. We are about 400 miles from home and I just havent had the time or place to pull out the straights.
However I managed to get away with it tonight. My weapon of choice (i only grabbed 3 razors when I left) was a 6/8 Invicta Coronet. By normal standards it wasnt a great shave, the water was bearly warm and the lighting was terrible, but the razor was good and man it felt good to remove that 4 day growth with a straight.
Its good to be back.

Grant,
I am truly sorry to hear about your son. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. Take comfort if you can in the knowledge that the thoughts and prayers of everybody who is aware of this are going out to you, your son and your family.
May you and your family dwell in compassion
May your hearts be filled with lovingkindness
May you all be well in body and mind
May you all be safe from inner and outer dangers
May you all be happy and free

Thanked: 1072Thank you all for your concern and well wishes, I cant begin to describe the rollercoaster of emotion the last few weeks have been. Everything else in your life, even the things your passionate about like razors, seem trivial, however shaving was a nice zen kind of moment so I will make sure to take the time out.
Although its way too early to comment young Jack is responding well to treatment so far and my newborn, Mason Elvis Howarth is doing well too.
Thanks guys
