    Default Boy what a difference

One of my razors was tugging just a bit; hadn't done anything but strop it in about...ummm...6 months to a year maybe.

Did 4 light passes on a barber hone with water yesterday, then 25 linen and 50 leather. This morning did another 25/50 and WOW!

That puppy shaved great. It's nice to hear the scritch scritch of the hairs getting cut and the occasional DING of the blade.

    Barber hones are wonderful things.

Now if I could just afford a good set of real stones to practice on with my worthless POS razor I have...I think that no-name razor might be Pakistani.

Nice job, Simon! Can't complain about a 4-stroke touchup...

Nice discipline in just doing a few passes and then checking results.

Hmmm...wonder if I should try a pasted strop for situations such as this?

No no no. I'm doing just fine with what I have. I don't need anything else...nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Not a thing...really.

    On second thought....

Way to go! I vote for 'keep it simple'...if it works for you, stick with it.

Barber hones are great! I snagged one on eBay a couple of months ago and it works really well.

They're awesome little hones. Next time try whipping up some lather and applying it to the hone with your brush. I think it works even better than using it dry or with water. That's what I used to do with my 3 line swaty.
