Try not rinsing between lathering... you'll like it.
When I got started wet shaving with a DE I had never done multiple passes. With the old Gillette 'Good News' disposable I would do one pass and call it good. So I learned to do multiple passes and to rinse before I re-lathered. I switched to shaving with straight razors exclusively a couple of years ago. Then in a thread posted on SRP a half a year ago a fellow mentioned that he never rinsed between lathering and I decided to try it.
I didn't care for the no rinse method the first time I tried it but I continued to do it and after a couple of times I began to like it better. When I rinsed between lathering I slathered it on my wet face and it didn't stick as well as it does if I just grab the brush and slap it on there without the rinse.
Taking it a step further, now that I shave with cold water my prep consists of lathering, rubbing the lather in with my fingers and re-lathering. I do not wash my face first but I apply the initial lather to my dry face. No shower beforehand either. I begin with a dry face. It is not for everybody. One way or the other if you've been rinsing between lathering give the no rinse method a try. I think you'll like it as much as I do but..... YMMV.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
