Default Using Oil before the Final Pass

This morning I decided to try something new in my routine.

I have tried to follow tried and true routines listed here on SRP since I am new to this. Hot shower, pre-shave oil, lather, shave, lather, shave, lather, and shave. This morning however, stemming from my recent reading about cold water shaves, decided to try something different I have noticed that on my last pass(ATG) my skin is a little drier and becaue of that the razor doesn't shave as easily. So this time I added a rinse and massaged on pre-shave oil and then lathered up. I must tell you that last pass was superb. It was my best shave so far and have gotten a little closer to feeling that BBS shave.

Have any of you tried something out of the ordinary to get to that BBS shave?

I started applying preshave between passes a few months ago and have gotten great results. My normal routine is to apply jojoba oil about 10 to 20 minutes before shaving, then a dab of Castle Forbes' preshave into the stubble, then lather and shave. Second pass is XTG; I'll rinse my face, rub in another dab of preshave, then lather and go. I finish with a cold rinse, plain witch hazel, and finally a nice bay rum.

It might be redundant to have jojoba and the preshave but I enjoy it too much to try otherwise just yet. Both require just a drop or two, quite literally, to cover my face.
