Thread: A thousand thanks to XMan

Today I gave myself the closest shave yet!! by a MILE.

Yesterday, i had the good fortune to get to meet up with Xman and learn some of the finer points of honing and stropping a razor, and so I got to leave his place with an even sharper razor than I walked in with (thank you!!!)

This morning, I proceeded to lather up for the first time ever with T&H rose shaving cream. Previously, I had been using proraso, which is a fine cream, but I have to say there is no comparison. The T&H exceeded all expectations and created a rich, structured, and sublimely scented lather. I worked the brush around for a minute or two and then let it sit (patience, young padawan...), and then ran a with-the-grain pass followed by a re-lathering and a diagonal pass. I didn't have a chance to try shaving against the grain because my roommate needed the bathroom to get ready for work, but despite the two passes, the heavy growth I had been accumulating since tuesday morning MELTED Off my face.

I have NEVER felt my skin so smooth.

And just in case anyone thinks I was the only generous man in the room that day, gegtik brought over a fantastic bottle of Cognac for us to enjoy, after the honing. My wife's snifter finally got put to good use and I was drunk almost off the aroma alone. He's also a thoughtful guy. We talked about a lot of stuff, not the least of which were shaving and this great forum.
