Or you are missing something so key yet so simple...

even with all the information it takes time and a "stick to itiveness" (not a word, I know) that many people just don't have, especially for something that should be as simple as a morning shave.

Time, patience, and willingness is what it will take mostly.

You are correct when you say this is not for everyone, because if it was, well, everyone would be doing it.

    Drubbing,

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. It might be a good idea to have you put up a video of one of your shaves, and have the members of SRP give you some of their substantial supply of advice after seeing it. Hope things go better in the future!

Really agree with JMS here & very often that simple something is unskilled stropping tho it seems you have a combination of factors at work including a busy lifestyle which may not allow you enough focus.
Some of us have put down the straight for years at a time & become quite proficient on subsequent attempts. Maybe that might be your experience too.

I don't think I would change anything. I found SRP very shortly after I got started, spent a lot of time reading, asking questions, and participating in the chat.

I haven't been afraid to experiment and try different techniques or equipment. The only thing that I would like to do in the near future is to meet up with an experienced honemeister and improve my honing skills. Fortunately Randy T. has graciously offered, so I just need to find the time to get down there to spend some time learning.
Things have fallen into place for me very well.

I'm just glad I found SRP when I was getting started.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I picked up a straight close close to 30 years ago. It was dull and chipped, and I had no one to teach me. Needless to say, I had a horrible experience and shaved with a DE for the next 20 odd years. Thank God for the internet!
