Thanked: 39No more ingrown hairs.
Thank you to everyone who helped out and put in advice It all helped.
Here is what I ended up doing. I did give up the ATG passes. I can still do them once in a while if I need to be extra smooth by going easy like I tried in my last post. For me as an everyday shave the ATG pass is best left out of the picture.
By doing only the WTG pass I had to change some things around to get the best shave. I had to take the razor edge to a higher level of refinement.
I had to improve my technique several levels up.
Before I liked the smaller blades. Now that I am only doing the WTG with a little XTG mixed in I have found that I like the larger blades now.
Once again thanks to all,

I wonder if checking for sanitizing the razor is something to think about. The razor would be a perfect device for implanting bacteria. I keep a set of Barbicide Wipes and make sure that I wipe my razors down regularly.

Thanked: 39Ingrown hairs are gone. Yesterday I did do a light ATG pass just to see if they would come back.
Sanatizing is not a problem when you are keeping your blade and brush clean and dry. Using a rotation on razors and brushes helps.
I think some people are just germ paranoid.
If you are getting cuts and not taking care of them to the point that they get infected. Then you don't let your brush dry out so that it stays wet.
It could harbor infection to the point you are reinfecting yourself each time you get a cut.
An infection is easy to spot, inflamed tissue that leak puss and takes to long to heal up.
Using witch hazel after you shave helps clean and heal minor nicks.
Washing your blade, wiping it down and giving it a few passes on fabric keeps the edge clean.
91% alcohol could be used to wipe your blade down if you were worried.
