Thanked: 1multiple razors for same shave?
I started using a wade and butcher heavy 7/8" razor and loved how it felt. I shaved this morning with a 5/8" razor and for the most part didn't like it as much, it felt way to light. But it sure was easier shaving the upper lip with a narrower blade. Im thinking of using the 7/8" on most of the face, and the 5/8" for those tight spots. something about that just feels like cheating to me. Does anyone use more than one razor per shave? or has anyone seriously contemplated it?

Trapper,
Though I haven't done it yet, I may do it somewhere down the
road.
Don't feel lke you are cheating, if you want to do it, do then do it.

Do whatever works for you! I've stropped between passes and even changed razors for my against the grain pass. It isn't cheating.

Definately not cheating. You could even go down to something as small as a 3/8 for the "trim" areas.

Yup
I have no problem changing blades in the shave. I do like the weight of my 6/8 but I usually reserve it for bigger jobs, like a half week of peach fuzz. The 5/8 is a good all rounder for size, weight and manoeuvrability. I have a great 3/8 trimmer which I use a few times a week too. It's all shaving if you ask me.

You gotta do what moves you. personally I stick with the same razor through the shave but then again I have a moustache. If I had to shave my upper lip I have a 2/8s which I think would do the job.

Thanked: 0I always used to use a 6/8 (before I dinged it :'( ) for the first pass, then change to the 5/8 for the second, it seemed a nice compromise between bulk and maneuverability.

For me it's one razor per shave unless it's after honing and it comes up not sharp enough. While my shaves don't take me too long I have to say I do have a wife and two kids going to work and school every morning and stropping and cleaning two razors would not leave me too much time to shave and still get out the door.

I like to keep 2 razors stropped and ready incase I find that one has begun to dull. That way, I don't have to digging through the closet while shaving cream is drying on my face to find a new one. I sometimes do a cross-grain shave with a different blade.
