Try ICE after your shave!
I've seen it hear previously from a member here, but don't remember if he was joking or not.
Here was my procedure:
Shave,
rinse with cold water
half an ice cube
blot dry on towl
apply aftershave before face cools
Now normally, bay rums tend to sizzle pretty good even under the best shaving circumstances, but after the ice cube treatment the Dominica went on like splashing water on my face! I'm going to continue experimenting with different aftershaves and the ice cube treatment to see if the results are repeatable. Try it and see if it's not great!

+1 on the Scottish shower! I used to take showers hot enough that I'd sweat for a few minutes afterwards. But I switched to a few minutes of cold afer the heat, and not only does it wake me up, but I can physically feel a difference in the orientation of my stubble after just the couple minutes of cold...it stands up a lot better for sure.
My own personal theory is that the Scottish shower gives you the best of both worlds, lots of heat to soften the beard that the hot shavers here like, and cold to contract the follicles to make the hair stand up straight for easier mowing. I don't have error bars for this data, but in my experience, it shaves easier than either method alone. YMMV.

Ice . . .
Gentlemen:
Thanks to red96ta for bringing up the subject of ice after the shave. Yes, it works wonders.
I have tried it this way after the shave is complete: Rinse the with warm water, as usual, apply alum block, rinse with cold water, as usual, and then apply ice in the same way as you would alum block. After that, a little witch hazel (I know this is going overboard, but I like witch hazel), aftershave balm and finally aftershave. The ritual makes me feel good, what can I say?
Yes, ice feels sweet on my Hollywood face.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 13245Hmmmm never used an ice cube, but I have used an iced towel for a long time,,Ever since Byron Todd told me about it...
I set one towel/washcloth aside in a small bowl of cold water with a few ice cubes in it, that is the end of the shave, right before the AS...
