Actually the back of the neck is extremely easy. First of all the back of the neck is tougher than your face. The skin is just plain tougher. I use a single mirror just to get the blade started in the right place and then just kinda go by feel, I still use the mirror but not for the whole stroke. Just make sure that your angle is shallow till you get the hang of it. Let us know how you do.

    Take care,
    Richard

I shave the back of my neck without a mirror. I just place my finger at the base of my hairline and then get the edge to the bottom of my finger. Never had a nick or irritation.

Thanks guys! I'd never considered doing this... I can't see the back of my neck so it tends to just get fuzzier and fuzzier... going to try this tonight.

I know this is going to sound crazy buy I shave the back of neck twice a week sometimes. I do it after work and it feels great. Resist the temption to keep going and just do one face pass, you will ruin the next mornings shave.

I have enough trouble with the front. I let the garage mechanic change my oil and the barber shave the back of my neck.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Get a wife. Isn't that why we pair up?

I've manged to shave the back of the neck without mirrors by first lathering and then placing the blade flat on the skin and shaving up until I meet the hair line.

    The wife does it better...

I asked my girlfriend is she would try it for me, but she was pretty intimidated. She is interested in using a straight on her legs though, so maybe after she tries that she will be more comfortable with my neck.

seriously.. i don't even want to try it.. there's a new chain of "old school" barbershops around town that charge 4 dollars to shave the back of the neck.. i just go there once a week and have it done..

my usual barber would charge me for an entire haircut.. otherwise i'd stay loyal.
