    Hello, Pat:

    Thank you for your note.

Most of the years I worked morning drive in radio I was up at 4 a.m. Although no longer in radio, I still awaken at that hour. As a rule, I don't sleep much, anyway. Haven't for years. Mostly because the mind never stops. Also, I love the early morning hours.

Sometimes I awaken at 2 a.m., or 3 a.m., with an idea for a piece of writing, or a scene in the novel on which I am currently working. Goodbye sleep. I turn on the computer, or uncap the fountain pen, and start writing. And so it goes.

Somewhere in those early morning hours my thoughts also turn to the pleasure of shaving. By pleasure I mean the very essence of the world. That morning wet shave with the straight razor is pure pleasure. Every element of it, I might add, from wiping the oil from the blade, to stropping, making lather, maneuvering the razor across my Hollywood face, the alum block, balm, aftershave — everything is a riot of pleasure.

    Regards,
    Obie

    Dear Obie,
Just when I thought I had my AD's satisfied, you post this wonderful read and I realize there are several more items I need to acquire. I like radio very much and I wish I could have heard your show. I may not have the voice for radio, but I certainly have the face.

    Be well.

    Hello, Mark:

How kind you are for the nice remarks. I thank you, sir.

If you go to my website (the link is under my signature below) and click on "Services," and then click on the long sample of one of my radio programs, you'll have a small taste of the show. Those were fun years. I miss them.

    Regards,
    Obie
