The people here are truly fantastic..
Thats the one! (to the guys above, i wish i had found the book when i first got my razor). I don't buy any of the cold water 'facts' but the shaving tecnique from this is all i use, i have thick beard and the neck the the whole face is baby smooth after two passes one with the grain and one sideways, only problem is have is the "tosh" although i am using a sideways second pass that feels a little un natural at the moment but does the job. I could never get it right until i downloaded a other book from here i think for Barbers i use the lathering tech from that, and the shaving from this and for me it is perfect! although i have plenty to learn about the art of honing

Yep! If you keep on doing what you have always done, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. The principle applies to more than shaving. I recently tried cold water for shaving, with frank disbelief that it would improve my shave. Not only did, it shortened my shaving time. Thanks for the post.

I tried a couple of cold-water shaves before I got either of my str8s--back when I was using the magic Shaver thingy. I should give it another try now that I've got my real razors, especially now that it's so hot out--not sure I'd want to sign up for that route in the winter!

I know what you mean...I still find my neck and jawline to be somewhat intimidating. I usually experiment with different anges to achieve BBS on those two areas of my face when I shave.
