Shave Frequency?
I know this topic has been beaten to death already, but I wanted to see how often people shave and what the pros and cons are to shaving more or less frequently.
I am currently shaving every other day. My beard is thick enough and tough enough to shave everyday, but I have always shaved every other day. Now that shaving is so fun, I am thinking about shaving every day. I worry about more irritation, but it seems that since the whiskers are shorter, they may come off easier?
So, what are the pros and cons to shaving more or less frequently?

I have a similar beard. I love to shave every morning. The only time I skip is if I have a new razor coming. I like to have two days growth for a new razor test. I dont do BBS to often. If i do there isnt much to shave the next day, so I do a "close to" BBS shave.

Thanked: 190There is another thread on this subject. But I am happy to always help out.
If everday, the first day gets the 3 passes to acheive BBS. Then the next work days just get touch ups and the passes are XTG/ATG only.
It takes about 48 hours growth to warrant a good 3 pass shave.

I shave every other day.
Daily shaving pro: you get to shave every day.
Daily shaving con: not as much stubble to remove.
I know I'm not the only one who finds it strangely gratifying to grow a week+ beard just so that you can take a nice large wedge to it.
If you want to shave more frequently then just give it a try. If your skin becomes more irritated then scale it back for a bit.

I love to shave every other day. I miss it a lot.
Now i shave twice a week .
I think the best result for me is every other day.
1 it helps if any nicks etc to heal
2. hair grows enough you can shave it.
3.your face always clean.
4. you get the play with your toys stragiht razor etc.

Thanked: 2259When it was fashionable to be clean shaven, I shaved quite infrequently, but in those days I shaved just to remove stubble.. a chore!
Now that many folks show a few days growth as the fashion, I shave every day, and quite enjoy it!
I'm the type that likes swimming against the tide... Running counter of the prevailing trends. Kind of like a big ole' salmon fighting it's way upstream.
So, at the moment i'm shaving more and enjoying it more. I consider myself to have relatively sensitive skin, but my face has held up well to my everyday regimen... But i do still enjoy going to camp for a week and coming back like Grizzly Adams just to mow it all down!

Firstly, don't ever feel bad for revisiting a previously dicussed topic of this nature. Most of us don't just wake up and know everything, and real progress and growth happen when we realize that what we thought yesterday has indeed changed.
I do a close shave just about every night after shower. The better my skills, edges and prep got, irritation became a non issue. About the only days I don't is when I feel too tired to concentrate. Those are the times most likely for nicks to happen and it gives me something to look foward to the next day.

I can go at least a few days without shaving before looking scruffy but when shaving is so much fun who would want to wait?
there's no better daily way to test your stropping skills than to put a blade to your face and see if it pulls or not
however I do agree with the others in that waiting for a while so you have a bunch of scruffiness to rid yourself of is pretty cool

So I think I'm going to try shaving daily and see where it takes me. As long as there is no irritation and ill effects, I don't see why not. My day starts off so much better when I shave. My facial hair grows in so fast, I could shave right now and my last shave was exactly 12 hours ago.
