Stupidity is the Mother of Disaster
This has to qualify as one of the top ten dumbest things I've ever done with a razor. My Revisor 6/8 was getting a little dull so I decided to give it a light touch up on my 8000K. At the end of the very first stroke, I turned the blade on the edge!!! For the life of me, I can'[t imagine what came over me. Having done that, I decided the only thing I could do before proceeding any further was to give it a full honing. I took out my other stones and progressed through the 1200, 4000 and 8000 then gave it a light treatment with CroOx and stropped a usual. The result: I've never gotten a closer shave out of that razor. I guess I should have turned it on its edge a long time ago.

Well the downside is that you had to spend some time on the hones to fix it, but the upside outweighs the downside far more IMO; That you learnt more about honing!
Glad you got it sorted!

Sometimes we do things so frequently it becomes automatic and we don't even think about it and that automatic process sometimes doesn't work like it should. In your case it worked out fine. It just makes you realize you always have to focus on what you are doing.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Oh and by the way, today I dropped that same razor on the hard bathroom floor. I was close (thank God) but came open after it touched down. It looked OK but I' be hitting the hones again, just in case.
