Neither my father nor my older brother felt any need to teach me how to shave; I was left to my own devices. Hence, from the age of 17 to the age of 39 or 40, I shaved my face the same way I hoed a garden (not a pretty sight -- spent lots of $$$ on styptic pencils).

I finally figured out on my own that the goal of shaving was to slice off the hair *without* slicing off the top ten layers of skin. I also figured out on my own (at the age of 40) that a WTG pass followed by an ATG pass was the way to go for a close shave w/o razor burn.

All I can say is "Thank GOD" for the founders of SRP & the SRP Wiki! You folks have taught me what I need to fulfill my lifelong desire to shave with a straight!
Namaste,
Morty -_-
