I typically get about 30 shaves per razor between honings.

i am sending a couple razors to holli4pirating to be honed. in the meantime i will be looking for a hone and strop. any ideas were to get them.

The Norton 4/8K water stone is in my opinion the best all around hone for the price, you can get one from a number of places on the web. Any of the Illinois strops is all you need in this regard though you can certainly spend a great deal more. Originally Posted by buckeye

Hi buckeye,
A strop is a tool you can't do without. The SRD 3" Latigo would be one that would give you years of service. It's not cheap but if the price doesn't scare you, the strop will not disapoint. I'm just starting to hone and only having modest results so I'll leave a hone recomendation to a more experienced member.
