Thanked: 83rd successful shaving day
It gets better. 3 days now and no cuts.
I've had to risk shaving with shave ready but probably un stropped razors. They are from Lynn and Bill so they are sharp..very sharp. I even tried one from Mr_Barence (ebay) and it too was sharp enough to shave with without stropping.
So far I've managed to avoid cuts and the razors feel quite smooth on the skin, some tugging but not too much. The last 2 days I've shaved twice, both in the same direction, mostly trying to get comfortable shaving around the nose, mouth, chin area, the rest is easier than I thought it would be.
My strop and pre pasted paddle strop should be here this week from Tony so I'm really looking forward to re-using my razors.
Thanks all for your encouragement..it has certainly helped a newbie to get started..I'd never go back now.

Gary,
I'm glad to hear that your shaving is going so well. It sounds like you're developing good technique. If you have a leather belt, you can use that to strop with until your kit from Tony shows up (his products are excellent by the way - I have two of his strops).

Thanked: 8Thanks Ed..The only time I'll go back to my DE is when I don't have time to concentrate and enjoy or if I have a really early flight to catch.

Gary,
I hear 'ya. I take an empty DE with me when I travel (I buy blades at a drug store when I arrive at my destination), other than that I shave with my straight. I even get up 20 minutes early each morning just to allow time to shave. A shave with a straight just can't be beat.

Gary,
Congrats on the successful shaves. Shaving with straights is something I enjoy, but I've come to consider myself a hybrid shave. I also still love shaving with my DE razors. For me, it's all about the variety!
