...what Lynn said! In spades! I picked up a really long blade and wound up with a gash that looks like the one Lawson showed, except mine ran from the edge of my jaw almost to my mouth. Just told everyone I had a scuffle in a bad bar. Like the man says, watch anything over 3". They all tend to heal well but damn it's embarrassing!
To me it really doesn't matter if the tip is round, square or spike, I just go into a Zen state and sort of meld with the blade (I think Lynn wrote that someplace). At this point I think I may have tried out just about everything shy of a hunting knife with good results. It's those times when my mind wanders that I bleed. But I'm still thinking about keening up a really good quality hunting knife and trying that out.... :-)

Hey, I just want to add a +1 on what everyone else has already said. You just have to watch where the point is, and you'll be fine. If you do cut yourself, it will either heal up completely or leave a little scar. I've always heard that chicks dig scars...
Seriously though, my first razor was the best quality 5/8 Dovo, also. I still use it on a regular basis, even though I've added more razors to my rotation. My second razor is a Dovo spike point and I have two pretty good scars from it. Now that I have figured out how to pay attention to what I'm doing, I rarely cut myself anymore. Just remember to not get too comfortable and pay attention.
In other words ...what everyone else said...
