Fbones24,
I really sympathize with you !
I suffer from these slumps now and again
The first was a stropping slump about a year into straight shaving, caused by my grip on the razor tang changing a whole 1/8 of an inch - you wouldn't credit it !
I am now, thankfully, coming out of a honing slump
The only slump, touch wood, I haven't had is with the actual shave !
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

Sounds to me like its probably a dulling razor, or sloppy technique from being complacent. I just say this because these are the sources of my own slumps.

Thanked: 1195It does sound like a combination of heightened expectations and perhaps a razor that isn't as keen as it should be. If indeed you are rotating razors try to spend a few days with each, as opposed to switching on a daily basis. The adjustment of technique per razor will likely not become habit until you've done this for a year or two.

I think you doing something else than before. I also had a period that was slightly less than before.
I'm going to explore what differently than before, I found out I was less stretched skin and therefore had a less good shave.
I used this info with a good pre shave cream, and excellent shaves were again the order of the day. Sometimes we think too easy, and we forget how it really should go.
In other words, you have to go after what you normally do and try that ancient ritual back to pick. maybe you can try a different pre shave method.

Martin will be happy if you buy more stuff.
Shall I give him a message. Do you have enough money?
He'll order for you a 7-day-set from Thiers Issard.
