When you get really obsessive try using a Feather high stainless razor blade.

    Blade,

Feather makes DE blades, recognized in the DE forums as the sharpest. But, due to the sharpness, not necessarily the best for everyone. For me, the difference comes into play when you compare "smooth" to "sharp". The first couple of days using a Feather are very "rough" to me. By day three, when the edge is a bit worn down, they seem to smooth out. I have other blades that act like that from day one, very smooth. DE blades are no different than anything else in the shaving world, just a matter of preference.

Feather double-edge blades are ridiculously sharp. As such, you must pay extra-super-duper-special attention to your shave. They make easy work of facial hair. You just have to get used to them. Plenty of other DE blades are extremely sharp. I also like Israeli blades.

Let me put it this way. They have had the single greatest effect of anything else since I started wet shaving. I used a DE for over 45 years before I discovered them.

It's true they're not for everyone. We keep hearing the mantra of sharp blades being less forgiving, and it's true. THe ridea is to develop your shaving style so there's nothing to forgive. So, it's not something to try as your first blade. But once you have the hang of using the DE, it's certainly worth a try. Just remember that to be comfortable with sharpness you need to adjust your shaving style. That means drastic reduction of pressure and non-aggressive shaving (don't try to cut to skin until you've worked down to a fine stubble). I can't use any other blades and there are quite a few shavers at all levels of experience who feel the same way.

I don't kno which Nerkur you bought, but if it's the Futur of slant, the Feathers have the most dramatic effect. Those two razors are known for being harsh, but the extra sharpness smoothes them out totally.
